PUTTER FITTING GUIDE

THE RIGHT PUTTER CHANGES EVERYTHING.

Geometry gives Ashdon putters their edge. Fitting puts that edge in your hands. The best putter in the world won't help if it doesn't match your stroke.

MOST GOLFERS PLAY THE WRONG PUTTER

Studies consistently show that over 70% of golfers play a putter that doesn't match their stroke type, posture, or eye position. That means every round, they're fighting their equipment instead of letting it work for them. A proper fitting takes less than an hour. The results last a lifetime.

STROKE TYPE

Your natural putting stroke — whether it travels in a slight arc or moves straight back and through — is the single most important variable in choosing the right putter. Arc strokes pair best with toe-hang designs. Straight-through strokes perform better with face-balanced heads. Getting this wrong costs you putts every round.

PUTTER LENGTH

Most golfers play a putter that's too long. The right length keeps your eyes directly over the ball, your arms hanging naturally, and your shoulders level. For most players, height is the fastest guide: over 6′ needs 36″, 5′8″–6′ needs 35″, 5′4″–5′8″ needs 34″, and shorter players typically play 33″ or less. Even a half-inch off can throw your read by inches at 10 feet.

HEAD STYLE

Blade putters reward a consistent stroke. Mallets deliver more forgiveness and a higher MOI for players who want stability over feel. Ashdon's mallet designs — including the G-360 M5 and M6 — use geometric mass distribution to maximize both, so you don't have to choose one over the other.

LOFT & LIE ANGLE

Factory specs rarely match real-world putting posture. The correct loft (typically 2°–4°) ensures the ball lifts cleanly off the turf and begins rolling immediately. The right lie angle keeps the sole flat at address so the face sits perfectly square — not tilted open or closed.

THE FITTING
PROCESS

01

ASSESS YOUR STROKE

We start by watching you putt. A few strokes on a flat surface reveals your arc, tempo, and impact tendencies. No gadgets required — just observation and experience. We're looking for the natural path your hands and shoulders want to follow, not the path you think they take.

MEASURE YOUR SETUP

Your posture at address determines everything downstream. We check eye position relative to the ball, arm hang, shoulder tilt, and forward bend. These measurements directly inform length, lie angle, and the ideal shaft position — getting them right makes every other variable easier to dial in.

MATCH TO THE RIGHT MODEL

With your stroke profile and setup measurements in hand, we walk you through Ashdon's lineup. From the forgiving geometry of the Roundabout Series to the precision of the Bermuda Triangle T-180, every model is engineered differently. You'll roll putts with two or three options and feel the difference immediately.

FINE-TUNE & CONFIRM

Once you've found your model, we finalize loft, lie, and length. We check ball roll using a string line or roll board to confirm the face is square at impact and the ball is tracking your intended line from the moment it leaves the face. You leave with total confidence in what's in your bag.
